Opposition leaders Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal are demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They cite widespread failures in national examinations, including the NEET-UG and CBSE Class 12 systems. This demand follows the recent cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 entrance exam due to paper leaks.
Examination System Failures
The NEET-UG 2026 exam was cancelled just 42 hours before its scheduled start. Question papers reportedly leaked on WhatsApp. Over 22 lakh students are affected by this cancellation. A re-exam is now scheduled for June 21, 2026 .
Additionally, the CBSE Class 12 revaluation system experienced significant problems. An On-Screen Marking (OSM) system produced flawed low marks for students. The online portal for re-checking crashed due to a high volume of requests.
Opposition's Demands
Rahul Gandhi accused the Ministry of Education of incompetence. He called for the Education Minister's immediate resignation. Arvind Kejriwal urged students to protest government failures. He alleged favoritism and corruption in national exams.
Both leaders criticized the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Ministry. They stated these bodies endangered students' futures. The opposition claims a systemic administrative crisis is at play.
