Delhi University (DU) will use Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores for M.Tech admissions starting in the 2026-27 academic year. This marks the first time GATE scores will be accepted for a Master of Technology program at DU. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved this change. Previously, DU used internal entrance exams or CUET PG for these admissions. Haneet Gandhi, DU’s Dean of Admissions, stated this aligns DU with national technical education standards. GATE scores have been used for PhD admissions at DU before.
M.Tech Admission Process
For the 2026-27 M.Tech in Microwave and Communications Engineering admissions, candidates with valid GATE scores will receive first preference. The program offers 30 seats. Vacant seats will then be filled based on CUET PG 2026 scores. DU has outlined the seat distribution by category.
Seat Distribution
| Category | Seats |
| Unreserved | 13 |
| OBC | 8 |
| SC | 4 |
| ST | 2 |
| EWS | 3 |
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a B.Tech, BE, or B.Sc Engineering degree. Degrees must be in relevant fields. These include Electronics and Communication, Electrical, or Radio Physics.
Application Procedure
Admissions for this M.Tech program will not use the standard CSAS-PG website. DU is launching a dedicated admissions website. Interested students will apply directly on this site. They will submit their details and GATE scores through the new portal. The new website is expected to launch soon for the Microwave and Communication Engineering stream.
