The University of Delhi has set strict rules for the 2026 Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) Elections . Contesting students face a Rs 5,000 spending limit and a ban on printed campaign materials like posters and banners. The elections are scheduled for September 18, 2026 .
New Election Guidelines
Students running for DUSU office must adhere to a Rs 5,000 budget . Audited expense details are mandatory. Loudspeakers, vehicles, and animals are prohibited for campaigning. All printed campaign materials, including posters and pamphlets, are banned. Candidates can use handmade posters , but only in designated campus areas.
Social media is permitted for campaign outreach. The university will host approved campaign videos, under 10 minutes long, on its official website. Candidates must submit videos to the Chief Election Officer by 2 pm on September 12, 2026 .
Eligibility and Voting
A minimum of 75% attendance is required for all candidates. For undergraduate students, the age range is 17 to 22 years . Professional college students may receive a one-year relaxation. Postgraduate students must be 25 years old or younger as of August 16, 2026 .
Only voters with a valid identity card or an official pass/letter of authority will be allowed to enter polling premises. The vote counting will occur on September 19, 2026 . Campaigning hours are from 8 am to 8 pm .
