The University of Delhi (DU) and the Center for Maritime Economy and Connectivity (CMEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on April 24, 2026 . The agreement aims to integrate maritime research into university studies. This partnership supports India's growing Blue Economy. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal witnessed the signing at the Delhi School of Economics. He stated the MoU aligns with the Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 . India currently supplies 12% of the world's seafaring workforce. The MoU aims to increase this contribution. It supports the goal of reaching 20% by 2030. The partnership fosters an environment for innovation and policy research. CMEC operates under the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS). This collaboration will equip young people with skills for economic growth.
