Delhi Technological University (DTU) is introducing new academic programs and expanding global partnerships for the 2026-27 academic session . These changes align with the National Education Policy 2020, according to Vice Chancellor Prateek Sharma. The university aims to enhance learning, research, innovation, and industry connections.
New degree options include integrated BSc and MSc programs in Data Science and Applied Statistics. DTU is also launching a 4+1 accelerated B.Tech to MS pathway with the University of Houston. Students can now pursue a Double Major Track in Economics alongside their B.Tech degree starting in the 2026-27 session. The university will also offer micro-credential courses developed with industry partners.
New Programs and Learning Options
Working professionals can access online certificate programs through DTU's Centre for Technology Enhanced Learning. Available courses include Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy Management, and ESG and Corporate Sustainability. Future B.Tech programs are planned, with Mechanical and Automation Engineering starting in 2026-27 . Computer Science and Engineering programs focusing on Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technology are slated for 2027-28 , pending approvals.
Research Expansion and Industry Ties
DTU has now graduated over 1,000 PhD students. The university received a Rs 1 crore grant from the Department of Science and Technology. This funding will establish an undergraduate lab in Quantum Technologies. New research facilities include the Bajaj Engineering Skills Training Centre and the Siddhartha Research and Tribology Centre.
DTU has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with several organizations. These include the Indian Army, CSIR National Physical Laboratory, Inter University Accelerator Centre, Bajaj Auto Ltd, and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. These collaborations aim to foster research and development.
Startup Successes and Community Engagement
DTU highlighted achievements in its startup ecosystem. AllSecureX and Heuronics were among the top six startups at the Delhi Startup Yuva Festival. Both received Rs 10 Lakh grants. NEMA-AI was recognized on the Forbes India Top 100 Startup list. The university also presented a smart waste bin tricycle to improve city sanitation. Plans are underway for a Rural Technology and Community Engagement Programme.
