Doctors are planning a 24-hour statewide protest in Maharashtra against the proposed registration of CCMP-trained BHMS doctors. The Maharashtra Medical Council's (MMC) plan to register these doctors has raised patient safety and regulatory concerns.

Doctors' Grievances and Demands

Central MARD, representing resident doctors, has appealed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. They want the state government to halt the registration process. MARD stated previous concerns went unaddressed. This protest follows prior appeals and meetings.

The group requests an immediate suspension of all processing and registration for CCMP-approved BHMS doctors. MARD wants a fresh review of the proposal. They also demand no executive actions to permit cross-practice beyond legal limits for any medical system.

Central MARD clarified the protest is not against homeopathy. It emphasizes each medical system has specific training and practice scopes. Doctors should adhere to their defined limits.

Protest Details and Wider Impact

IMA Maharashtra has announced its own 24-hour protest. This will run from August 4, 2026, 6 AM to August 5, 2026, 6 AM . The protest has support from MARD, ASMI, and specialty medical organizations.

Central MARD also cited staff shortages and administrative issues. They argue these should not compromise professional standards. The group demands improved public healthcare. This includes new recruitment, better infrastructure, and addressing long-standing issues for resident doctors.

Key issues for resident doctors include service conditions, stipend, workplace safety, and academic welfare. They also mentioned hospital facilities. Central MARD plans a nationwide withdrawal of routine medical care on August 5, 2026 . Emergency, casualty, and life-saving services will continue for the first 24 hours.

The allopathic medical community believes the registration could negatively impact medical science and ethics. IMA Maharashtra warned of longer service withdrawals if registration proceeds.
