Delhi University (DU) is set to introduce new master's courses in journalism. The first to be introduced will be MA in Hindi Journalism, which will start from the 2025–26 session. Then, the university is also going to introduce an MA in English Journalism, which is expected to start in the 2026–27 session.
MA in Hindi Journalism Approved by Committee
DU's Standing Committee on Academic Matters (SCOAM) has approved the MA in Hindi Journalism course on its first reading. This decision was taken on Hindi Journalism Day, which is observed on May 30. The course is being introduced by the Department of Hindi under the Faculty of Arts. Before it is made official, the proposal has to be approved by the Academic Council of the university. The course is designed based on the Postgraduate Curriculum Framework (PGCF).
Course to Start from 2025–26 Academic Session
The Hindi Journalism master's course will begin from the next academic year, 2025–26, according to committee member Ram Kishore Yadav. A recent meeting where the syllabus of the course was discussed as well as other undergraduate and postgraduate programmes' syllabi.
MA in English Journalism Planned for 2026–27
DU also intends to introduce a similar course in journalism in the English language. The Department of English will introduce the MA in English Journalism, and it is hoped that it will commence from the 2026–27 session.

What Does This Means for Students?
Students keen on taking up journalism in Hindi will soon be able to take a master's course at Delhi University from next year. Those eager for a similar course in English will have to wait another year, as that program is still under plans. These new courses are designed to enhance media studies in local and English languages to provide more career opportunities in communications and journalism.
