Students completing a four-year undergraduate program can now apply directly for PhD. This requires meeting specific eligibility criteria. The Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council recommended the change. This streamlines the academic path for early researchers.
New Skill Courses Introduced
Delhi University will offer several new skill enhancement courses. These are designed for practical career preparation. Courses include Entrepreneurship Mindset. Other offerings are Opportunity Discovery, Design Thinking, Venture Business Design, and Go to Market Strategy. Entrepreneurial Communication and Investor Pitching are also available. Library and Information Literacy Skills is another new course. These aim to equip students for industry and startups.
Sports Scholarship and SOL Renamed
A new scholarship honors former Union Minister Arun Jaitley. It will support three undergraduate athletes annually. The scholarship offers ₹50,000 per year . Awardees must compete at national or international levels. At least one female athlete must receive the scholarship. This award is funded for 20 years. The School of Open Learning is now the Centre for Distance and Online Education. This aligns with UGC regulations.
DU Global Ranking Improves
Delhi University's global standing has risen. It now ranks 322nd in the QS World University Rankings 2027 . This is an improvement from the 521-530 range in 2022. The university attributes this progress to its focus on research and academic quality.
