The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Delhi, has provided detailed guidelines. The assessment will cover Hindi, English, and Mathematics on separate days.
Assessment Schedule
Students from Classes 2 to 8 will take the assessment according to this schedule:
| Subject | Assessment Date |
| Hindi | August 27, 2026 |
| English | August 29, 2026 |
| Mathematics | August 31, 2026 |
The goal is to understand students' current learning levels. This is especially true for foundational literacy and numeracy.
NIPUN Sankalp Baseline Assessment
The baseline assessment is a key component of the NIPUN Sankalp program. This program aims to strengthen essential literacy and numeracy skills in students.
Assessment Conduct
The assessment uses OMR-based tests. Schools must maintain a "one desk-one student" arrangement. This ensures fairness and confidentiality during the exam.
Students must be registered on the NIPUN Sankalp online portal. Schools must verify student records beforehand. For Classes 2 and 3, teachers will complete OMR sheets entirely. This includes student details and answers. For Classes 4 to 8, teachers will fill in student details and Part B. Students will complete Part A themselves.
Missed Assessments
Students absent on scheduled dates will have another chance. The assessment for absent students can be conducted by September 5, 2026 .
