Scope and Funding
The Delhi government plans to distribute bicycles to approximately 1.4 lakh eligible students across the capital. Distribution will occur in phases. The total cost of the program is estimated at Rs 90 crore .
Education Minister Ashish Sood attended the launch. He emphasized the scheme's role in overcoming transport barriers for girls. This allows for uninterrupted study.
The bicycle distribution is part of a broader government effort. This effort supports girls' education. It also focuses on improving attendance and strengthening student safety and empowerment.
