The Delhi government has started a new program called ‘Delhi AI Grind’ for students in all its schools. This program aims to teach students about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and help them use AI to solve real-world problems. The initiative began in December and will continue until March .
The program is for students aged 10 to 25 years . For students in classes 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 , taking part in the Delhi AI Grind is compulsory. This means these students must participate.
What is Delhi AI Grind?
Delhi AI Grind is a city-wide program focused on AI innovation. It is designed to make students familiar with AI technology. AI is about making machines think and learn like humans. For example, when your phone suggests the next word you might type, or when a computer can recognize faces, that is AI at work. This program will help students understand how AI works and how they can build their own AI solutions.
The main goal is to increase awareness about AI and to give students practical training. They will learn how to identify problems in their daily lives or in their communities and then use AI tools and ideas to find solutions. This will help them develop new skills for the future.
Why is Learning AI Important?
Learning about Artificial Intelligence is becoming very important for students today. AI is changing many parts of our lives, from how we use phones to how doctors treat illnesses and how businesses operate. Understanding AI will give students an advantage in their future studies and careers.
For example, knowing AI can help students get jobs in technology companies, research, or even start their own businesses. It also helps them think in new ways to solve complex problems. The Delhi government believes that by teaching AI early, students will be ready for new opportunities and challenges in a world that uses more and more technology.
Who Can Join the Program?
The Delhi AI Grind program is open to a wide range of students. While it is for students from 10 to 25 years old, participation is a must for specific classes. These include:
- Class 6
- Class 7
- Class 8
- Class 9
- Class 11
Students from other classes or age groups within the 10-25 range may also join, but for the listed classes, it is a mandatory part of their school activities.
Key Dates and Steps
The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) has set a clear timeline for this program. Here are the important steps:
| Activity | Deadline/Start Date |
| School Registration & Campus Ambassador Nomination | Before December 8 |
| School-Level Mini Grind Sessions Begin | From December 15 |
| Internal Evaluation at School Level | After Mini Grind Sessions |
| Selection for District Level | To be announced |
| Selection for State Level | To be announced |
| Program Duration | December to March |
Schools must register on the Delhi AI Grind website. They also need to choose five students to be 'campus ambassadors' before December 8 . These ambassadors will help lead the program in their schools.
How Students Will Be Supported
This initiative is a joint effort. The Department of Education, Higher and Technical Education is leading it, working with ViSV Foundation . Inside schools, the School Innovation Councils (SICs) and special NEEEV (New Era of Entrepreneurial Ecosystem and Vision) teachers will help students. They will guide students and provide support during the program to make sure everyone can learn and participate effectively.
Preparing for the Future
The Delhi AI Grind is part of a bigger plan called NEEEV. This plan aims to build a new system where students are encouraged to think like entrepreneurs and innovators. By teaching AI, the government wants to give students modern skills. These skills will help them not just find jobs, but also create new solutions and even new businesses in the future.
