The Delhi government has allocated 275 internship seats for Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) across 12 hospitals. This move allows FMGs who have cleared their mandatory examinations to begin their internships and advance towards medical practice registration. The government stated the decision aims to support medical education and improve healthcare services.
Internship Seat Distribution
A total of 275 internship seats were distributed following counselling. Of these, 68 seats are in seven teaching hospitals. The remaining 207 seats are located in five non-teaching hospitals.
Teaching Hospitals
The seven teaching hospitals receiving FMG interns include:
- ESIC Medical College and Hospital
- Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital
- Lady Hardinge Medical College
- Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital
- Hamdard Institute of Medical Sciences and Research
- Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital
- NDMC Medical college
Non-Teaching Hospitals
The five non-teaching hospitals offering internship positions are:
- Deen Dayal Upadhay Hospital
- Guru Gobind Singh Hospital in Raghubir Nagar
- Jaipur Golden Hospital
- BLK Max Super Speciality Hospital
- St Stephen’s Hospital
This distribution across 12 facilities broadens opportunities for eligible FMGs in the Delhi region.
Government Statement
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh announced the allocation. He stated the government is committed to providing a fair chance for FMGs. The goal is to help them complete internships and contribute to the healthcare system.
The Health Department involved teaching and non-teaching staff in the counselling process. This ensured transparency and equitable seat distribution. The government believes this initiative strengthens infrastructure and medical education.
