CUET UG 2026 Syllabus Updated: Key Changes in Core Subjects

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced important updates to the CUET UG 2026 syllabus. These changes affect several core subjects including History , Economics , Business Studies , Computer Science , and Physical Education . Students who are preparing for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) in May 2026 should check the new topics carefully. The NTA has made these updates to align the syllabus with the latest academic learning standards. The application process for CUET 2026 will start soon.

CUET 2026 Syllabus: What Has Changed?

Here is a clear breakdown of the topics that have been removed and added for key subjects in the CUET UG 2026 syllabus:

History Syllabus Updates

For History , the NTA has revised some of the 'Themes'. Previously included topics like 'Agrarian Relations – The Ain-i-Akbari', 'New Architecture – Hampi', 'Religious History – The Bhakti-Sufi Tradition', and 'Medieval Society through Travellers’ Accounts' have been removed. In their place, students will now study 'Medieval Society through Travellers’ Accounts' (with a new focus), 'Religious History – Bhakti-Sufi Traditions', 'Vijayanagara Empire – Politics, Economy and Architecture', and 'The Mughal Empire and Agrarian Society'. This means students need to focus on these new areas for their exam preparation.

Economics Syllabus Updates

The Economics syllabus has received significant additions. No topics have been removed. The new units added are:

  • Unit I: Development Policies and Experience (1947–90) : This unit covers the state of the Indian economy at the time of Independence, different economic systems, goals of Five Year Plans, aspects of agriculture (including new strategies), industrial policies (like IPR 1956), and foreign trade.
  • Unit II: Economic Reforms since 1991 : This section introduces the meaning of Macroeconomics and discusses the features and assessment of LPG reforms (Liberalisation, Privatisation, Globalisation) in India.
  • Unit III: Current Challenges Facing Indian Economy : Topics here include Human Capital Formation and the education sector, rural development initiatives (cooperatives, organic farming), employment trends and policies, and issues related to Environment and Sustainable Development.
  • Unit IV: Development Experience of India – Comparison with Neighbours : This unit will compare India's economic growth, population, and development strategies with its neighboring countries.

Business Studies Syllabus Updates

In Business Studies , two units have been removed: 'Unit IX: Business Finance' and 'Unit XII: Entrepreneurship Development'. These covered financial management concepts, financial planning, capital structure, and entrepreneurship basics. A new unit, 'Unit X: Financial Markets', has been added. This new unit covers the concept of financial markets, money markets and their instruments, capital markets (primary and secondary), functions and trading on a stock exchange, depository services, demat accounts, and the role of SEBI.

Computer Science Syllabus Updates

For Computer Science , no topics have been deleted. A new unit, 'Unit 7: Project-Based Learning', has been added. This unit teaches students about different methods for solving projects, the steps involved in project-based learning, the importance of teamwork, and its various components.

Physical Education Syllabus Updates

The Physical Education syllabus also has no deletions. Two new units have been added. These are 'Unit VII: Skill-Related Physical Fitness', which explains its meaning and methods to improve physical skills, and 'Unit IX: Physiology and Biomechanics in Sports', which explores how the human body works and moves during sports activities.

CUET 2026 Exam Information

The CUET 2026 exam will take place in May 2026 . It will be conducted online, as a Computer Based Test (CBT). Students should regularly check the official NTA CUET website for details about the application process and other important updates. Preparing according to the updated syllabus is crucial for all candidates.
