The National Testing Agency (NTA) reopened the city preference option for the CUET UG 2026 exam. This allows students to select alternative cities if their initial choices were full. The window is open now on the official website, cuet.nta.nic.in.
City Preference Reopened
Over 1.5 million candidates registered for CUET UG 2026. The NTA initially allocated cities based on candidate preferences. Most candidates received their first or second choice. However, some students could not be placed in their preferred cities due to high demand.
The NTA identified vacant slots in certain cities. These slots are available for specific subject combinations on particular exam dates. Candidates affected by capacity constraints can now choose from these available locations.
How to Reallocate
Students who were allotted cities outside their preference can log in to the CUET UG website. They can select from the available slots. This reallocation is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The NTA advises all candidates to verify their allotted exam city, center, date, and shift. This information will be on their admit card. Early selection is recommended as slots are limited.
