The National Testing Agency (NTA) confirmed that no score normalization was applied to the CUET PG 2026 results. This applies to all candidates, including those who took a rescheduled exam in March 2026. The NTA stated that results were based solely on actual marks scored.
CUET PG Re-Exam Details
A total of 565 candidates could not take the CUET PG 2026 exam in March. This was due to unforeseen circumstances. Issues included law and order problems in Meghalaya's Tura region. Security concerns also affected overseas test centers. The NTA scheduled a re-examination on March 29 and 30 . This ensured affected students were not disadvantaged.
NTA Clarifies Evaluation Process
The NTA stated CUET PG uses a system awarding actual marks. Score normalization has never been part of the process. Therefore, no candidates were exempted from normalization. The agency maintained a uniform evaluation policy for both the main and re-examinations.
Reasons Against Normalization
The NTA cited significant differences in candidate numbers between the main and re-exams. For example, around 16,000 students took the English main exam. Only 120 took the re-test . In Political Science, 26,000 took the main exam , and 100 took the re-test. For History, the numbers were 13,600 and 80 , respectively. Applying normalization to these small re-exam groups was deemed statistically unsuitable.
Ensuring Fairness and Transparency
To address fairness concerns, the NTA confirmed re-exam papers were prepared by subject experts. These experts verified the difficulty levels matched the main examination papers. The NTA reiterated its commitment to a fair and transparent examination system. They will continue issuing clarifications to prevent confusion.
