CSAB 2026 Special Round Registration Starts July 28

CSAB 2026 special round registration opens July 28, 2026. The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is conducting this round. It aims to fill vacant seats in National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). These are seats left after the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling concludes.

The registration link will be available on the official website, csab.nic.in . The deadline to register online is August 3, 2026 . All candidates eligible for JoSAA counselling 2026 can participate in the CSAB special round.

Registration Process

Candidates must follow specific steps to register. First, visit the official website at csab.nic.in . Next, log in using your JEE Main details. Fill out the application form accurately. Pay the online application fee. Review all entered details carefully. Submit the application. Download the confirmation page for future records.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for CSAB counselling 2026 mirrors JoSAA counselling criteria. Candidates who received a seat offer in JoSAA 2026 can also register for seat upgrades.

The following table outlines the eligibility categories:

Category 1Candidates who did not register for JoSAA. They can register for CSAB to get seats in NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.
Category 2Candidates who registered for JoSAA but did not receive a seat. They can participate in CSAB.
Category 3Candidates whose JoSAA allotment was cancelled due to non-payment of the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF).
Category 4Candidates who exited JoSAA counselling without an allotment. They can apply for CSAB.
Category 5Candidates who secured IIT seats in JoSAA. This includes those whose seats were cancelled after document verification, or who validly withdrew from JoSAA, or who are already admitted to IITs. They can apply for CSAB.
Category 6Candidates who secured seats in the NIT+ system in JoSAA. This includes candidates who paid the SAF and Partial Admission Fee (PAF). It also covers those who validly withdrew from their NIT+ allotted seats. Candidates whose NIT+ seats were cancelled after document verification and who received no subsequent JoSAA allotments are eligible. Finally, those who paid SAF and completed verification but had their NIT+ seats cancelled for non-payment of the Partial Admission Fee are also eligible.
