Major Changes for COMEDK UGET 2026

Students should note the following big changes in the eligibility rules this year:

  • New Subject Options: Until last year (2025), students had to study Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with English in Class 12 to apply for COMEDK. From this year, Chemistry is no longer the only option. Students can now have Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics instead of Chemistry.
  • Pass All Subjects: Students must pass all subjects they took in Class 12 individually. This includes all optional or extra subjects.
  • No Rank for Zero Marks: If a student gets '0' (Zero) marks in the COMEDK UGET 2026 exam, they will not be given any rank.

Detailed Eligibility Rules for COMEDK UGET 2026

Here are the full details of who can apply for the COMEDK UGET 2026 exam:

  • Who can apply: Indian Citizens, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), or Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) can take the test.
  • Required Education: You must have passed your Second PUC (Pre-University Course) or 10+2 Higher Secondary exam. This must be an exam recognized by the State or Central Government.
  • Compulsory Subjects in Class 12: In the last two years of your study (Class 11 and 12), you must have studied Physics, Mathematics, and English as compulsory subjects.
  • Optional Science Subject: Along with Physics, Mathematics, and English, you must have studied one of these subjects: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics .
  • Minimum Marks:
    • For General Merit students, you need a minimum of 45% marks in total in Physics, Chemistry (or the chosen alternative subject), and Mathematics combined.
    • For SC, ST, and OBC students from Karnataka State, you need a minimum of 40% marks in total in Physics, Chemistry (or the chosen alternative subject), and Mathematics combined.
    • You must also pass each of these subjects (Physics, Mathematics, and the chosen optional science subject) individually.
  • One Board Rule: All your subjects must be passed from a single examination board. Mark sheets from two different boards will not be accepted. For example, if you have Physics and Chemistry marks from the CBSE board, you cannot have Mathematics marks from the NIOS board.
  • Rank List: Simply taking the COMEDK Entrance Test is usually enough to be included in the rank list. However, as mentioned earlier, if you get '0' marks, you will not receive a rank.
  • Diploma Holders: Students who have a Diploma are not allowed to take this entrance test. There are no direct admissions for Diploma holders (lateral entry) through COMEDK UGET.
