Essential Items to Carry for CLAT 2026

On the day of the CLAT 2026 exam, certain documents and items are mandatory for entry and for taking the test. Make sure you have these ready to avoid any problems at the exam centre. It is a good idea to pack these things the night before the exam.

  • CLAT 2026 Admit Card: A clear and legible printout of your admit card is compulsory. This document confirms your registration and exam centre details. Without it, you will not be permitted to enter the examination hall.
  • Valid Photo ID (Original): You must bring an original, government-issued photo identification proof. Acceptable IDs include your Aadhaar Card , Passport , PAN Card , Voter ID , or Driving License . A photocopy or scanned image will not be accepted. The ID is used to verify your identity.
  • Passport-size Photographs: Carry at least one or two recent passport-size photographs. These might be needed for pasting on the attendance sheet or for any other verification process required by the invigilators.
  • Blue/Black Ballpoint Pens: You are only allowed to use blue or black ballpoint pens. These pens are for marking answers on the OMR sheet. Do not bring gel pens, fountain pens, or pencils, as they are not permitted for filling the OMR sheet.
  • Transparent Water Bottle: Students are allowed to carry their own water bottles. However, the bottle must be completely transparent, without any labels, colours, or designs. This allows exam staff to easily check its contents.
  • Disability Certificate (if applicable): If you belong to the Persons with Disability (PwD) category, you must carry your original disability certificate. This document is essential to confirm your eligibility for special facilities or extra time, if applicable.

Items Prohibited in the CLAT 2026 Exam Hall

There is a strict list of items that are not allowed inside the CLAT 2026 exam hall. Bringing any of these items can lead to your disqualification from the exam. It is important to leave these items at home or store them securely outside the exam centre.

  • Electronic Devices: All electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited. This includes mobile phones, smartphones, smartwatches, calculators, digital diaries, cameras, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and any other communication or computing devices.
  • Study Material: No books, notes, loose papers, rough sheets, guides, or any other written or printed study material is allowed inside the examination room.
  • Bags and Accessories: Items like handbags, wallets, purses, belts with large buckles, caps, goggles, and any form of bulky or metallic jewellery are not allowed. It is advised to keep your belongings to a minimum.
  • Food and Beverages: Except for the transparent water bottle mentioned above, no eatables or beverages are permitted inside the exam hall. This rule helps maintain order and cleanliness.
  • Watches: While some centers might allow simple analog watches, it is generally safer to avoid carrying any watch, especially if it is not fully transparent. Most exam halls will have a wall clock for candidates to check time.

Following these simple guidelines will help ensure you have a stress-free CLAT 2026 exam day. Arrive early, double-check your belongings, and focus on your test. Good luck to all students appearing for the exam!
