Exam Date and Timing
The CLAT 2026 exam will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2025 . The test will run for two hours, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM . This exam will be held in a single session for all students, whether they are applying for UG or PG law programs.
New Rules for Students with Disabilities (PwD)
The Consortium has made an important change to its rules for students with disabilities (PwD). From now on, students who have more than 40% disability will be officially considered under the PwD category for the exam.
This new rule brings a big benefit for these students. They will get extra time to complete their exam. For every hour of the test, PwD candidates will receive an additional 20 minutes . This means if the exam is for two hours, they will get 40 extra minutes. The goal of this change is to make the CLAT exam more fair and easier for all differently-abled students to take.
Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme Remain Unchanged
While there are new rules for PwD students, the main structure and format of the CLAT 2026 exam have not changed. Students should note that:
- The exam will be held in the usual offline way, using a pen and paper.
- The exam will still have 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) .
The marking system for CLAT 2026 also remains the same:
- You will get +1 mark for every correct answer.
- 0.25 mark will be taken away for every wrong answer. This means there is negative marking, so answer carefully.
Students should check all official exam day guidelines released by the NLU. These guidelines will provide full details on what to do and what not to do on the exam day.
