The Chhattisgarh Board of Secondary Education (CGBSE) has introduced new admission rules for the 2026 and 2027 academic years. Students in classes 9 through 12 must now meet a 75 percent attendance requirement. Admissions for the 2026-27 session begin June 16, 2026 , and close July 31, 2026 .
Mandatory 75% Attendance
CGBSE now strictly enforces a minimum 75 percent attendance for all students. Those failing to meet this threshold will not be considered regular students. They must appear for board examinations as private candidates. A 10 percent attendance relaxation may be granted in exceptional circumstances with valid proof.
Apaar ID Required for Admission
All students applying for admission to classes 9 and 12 must provide their Apaar ID . Admissions will not be finalized without this identification number. Schools are responsible for maintaining accurate student records using the Apaar ID system.
Board Exams to Be Held Twice Annually
The board will conduct examinations twice within a single academic session starting in 2026. The first exam will take place between February and March. A second examination will be held from June to July. This change offers students an additional opportunity to improve their scores without waiting a full year.
Attendance Policy for Private Candidates
Students with attendance below 75 percent will be classified as private candidates. This policy aims to increase student engagement in regular classroom activities. It also promotes a more serious approach to academics within schools.
Study Gap Rules
Students with a study gap of up to one year can seek regular admission. They must submit an affidavit detailing the reason for the gap. Study gaps exceeding two years will disqualify students from regular admission. These students can only appear as private candidates.
Admission Timeline and Special Cases
Regular admissions for classes 9 to 12 run from June 16, 2026, to July 31, 2026 . Admissions may extend to August 17, 2026 , with permission from the Board Secretary for special cases. Students who pass the second main examination (June-July) can enroll within 10 days of their result declaration.
