A CBSE Class 12 student's allegations of answer sheet mix-ups during re-evaluation have sparked renewed scrutiny of the board's result processing. Student Vedant claimed on social media that his marks were initially affected by an incorrect answer booklet. He stated that after applying for re-evaluation, his marks increased in subjects for which he had not applied for review.
CBSE Responds to Student Claims
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has denied Vedant's claims, calling them a "blatant lie." The board stated that Vedant's total marks actually increased by 11 points across three subjects following re-evaluation. According to CBSE, one mark each increased in Computer Science and Mathematics, and nine marks increased in Physics.
The board provided the following re-evaluation results:
| Sr. No | Subject | Original Result (Theory) | Re-evaluation Result (Theory) | Increase |
| 1 | Mathematics | 46 | 47 | 1 |
| 2 | Physics | 35 | 44 | 9 |
| 3 | Computer Science | 61 | 62 | 1 |
| Total | 11 |
Student Disputes Board's Figures
Vedant contested the CBSE's statement. He asserted that the 9-mark increase in Physics did not result from the re-evaluation process. He argued these were his correct marks, withheld initially due to an answer sheet exchange. He maintained that only two marks, one each in Computer Science and Mathematics, were increased through re-evaluation.
He questioned how marks on a potentially incorrect answer sheet could be considered his. Vedant stated that the 9-mark increase in Physics occurred before the re-evaluation portal opened.
Wider Concerns Raised
This incident has reopened debate on CBSE's examination and result processes. Social media users are demanding greater transparency. Concerns are also being raised about pending Class 10 results, leading some to question the board's overall examination methodology.
Re-evaluation Process Update
The CBSE has been releasing Class 12 re-evaluation results since June 21, 2026 . The board reports that results for over 99.7% of applications are declared. Remaining cases are in final processing stages. The re-evaluation process last year concluded on July 11, 2025.
