Coempt Edu Teck has denied widespread flaws in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The company stated that recent complaints stem from isolated operational issues, not technical failures. This comes as students report concerns about accessing scanned answer sheets and image quality.
Answer Sheet Mix-Up Attributed to Scanning
A case where a student allegedly received another candidate’s answer sheet was not due to software errors, according to Coempt. The company attributed the mix-up to the physical scanning process. It confirmed that the specific scanning location and individual involved have been identified. Internal checks show no technological fault occurred.
Image Quality Complaints Under Review
Coempt is reviewing complaints about blurred scanned images and difficult-to-read handwriting. These cases are being examined with concerned evaluation authorities. The company strongly denied claims that tender rules were altered for lower-quality scanners.
It stated that scanners used are standard industry-grade machines. Hardware is upgraded annually. Scanning resolution meets proper standards. Coempt reported that nearly 95 percent of students requesting answer sheets have received them. Only a few delays occurred.
Security Concerns Dismissed
The company responded to security vulnerability reports from a 19-year-old ethical hacker. Coempt stated the hacker accessed a public testing server for internal use only. This server contained dummy data. It was not linked to the production system or student data.
No student information or core technical systems were compromised. Coempt referenced the 2019 Telangana Intermediate exam controversy. The company noted that courts have examined this matter. The Supreme Court declined requests for mass re-evaluation, compensation, or criminal action against the technology provider.
Currently, Coempt provides digitisation, on-screen marking, AI-based evaluation, and question-paper management. These services are offered to over 35 universities and institutions across India.
