IIT Madras experts are conducting a comprehensive review of the Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) post-result IT portal. This action follows widespread student complaints about technical failures. The review aims to address issues like server crashes and payment gateway problems. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is overseeing the situation.
IT Portal Undergoing 'Health Check'
A team from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur has been dispatched to Delhi. They will perform a complete assessment of the CBSE's digital infrastructure. This includes examining the backend processes. The experts will also assess vulnerabilities to Denial of Service (DoS) attacks. This risk is linked to the board's new On-Screen Marking system.
Hundreds of thousands of students reported difficulties. These included blocked logins and issues accessing digital copies of their answer sheets. The problems arose after the release of results, which saw a surge in website traffic.
Causes of the Technical Crisis
The crisis stemmed from multiple factors. CBSE processed approximately 9.8 million answer sheets for screen marking. The high volume of students accessing the site simultaneously caused congestion. Technical malfunctions in payment gateways led to erroneous charges. Some students reported being overcharged, with payments reaching up to ₹67,000.
Students also faced inaccessibility and authentication problems. In some cases, scanned answer sheets were blurred. Investigations into suspected Denial of Service attacks are ongoing.
Extended Deadlines and Reduced Fees
To mitigate the impact on students, CBSE has extended deadlines and reduced fees for post-result services. This ensures students do not miss admission opportunities due to technical issues.
| Post-Result Service | Revised Fees (Per Unit) | Extended Registration Deadline |
| Verification of Marks | ₹100 / Subject | Closed |
| Obtaining Scanned Answer Sheet | ₹100 / Subject | May 25, 2026 (Midnight) |
| Re-evaluation of Specific Questions | ₹25 / Question | May 26 to May 29, 2026 |
Four public sector banks are assisting in the IT system's restructuring. Students are advised to check the official CBSE website for the latest updates and deadlines.
