The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the session time limits on its re-evaluation portal. This change follows student feedback and a high volume of initial applications. The portal allows students to verify their answer scripts after results are released. The extension aims to provide a smoother process for students of Classes 10 and 12.
Portal Overload and Cyberattacks
On its first day, the CBSE re-evaluation portal experienced significant pressure. Approximately 14,000 users were active simultaneously. Over 28,000 submissions were recorded in a few hours.
The portal also faced a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack. This attack involved over 1.5 million malicious requests within two minutes. The combined user load and attack caused system timeouts and forced logouts.
Students encountered errors such as 'Login Request Expired' and 'Verification Failed'. Some users experienced blank screens or distorted layouts on mobile devices. The extended session times are intended to prevent these issues.
Improvements and Security Measures
CBSE increased session duration to ease applicant stress. This allows students more time to review their information. It also gives them time to identify and report discrepancies.
Website security has been enhanced. A special task force is managing security. This team includes government security officers and specialists from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur.
Discrepancies Students Can Report
The updated portal is now stable. Students who have received scanned copies of their digital answer scripts can report issues. These issues relate to the On-Screen Marking (OSM) process.
- Pages Missing: Reports of blank pages, missing page numbers, or absent supplementary sheets and graphs.
- Inability to Read: Digital copies that are too blurred to read handwriting clearly.
- Mistakes in Assessment: Instances where answers were not checked, or marking was done on the wrong question paper series.
These reporting options allow students to address potential errors in their evaluations.
