The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has finalized evaluation procedures for Class 12 results in 2026. This comes after exam cancellations in West Asian countries due to regional conflict. Over 18.5 lakh students registered globally. The board aims for fair assessment to support university admissions.
Alternative Assessment for West Asia
Students in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Iran faced exam cancellations between March 16 and April 10, 2026 . Their results for affected subjects will use an Alternative Assessment Scheme. This scheme relies on internal school data.
Subject Evaluation Methods
For major subjects, the board will use the best theory mark. This mark will be drawn from quarterly, half-yearly, or final pre-board exams. The maximum marks considered will be 70 out of 80.
Skill or vocational subjects will be assessed based on final pre-board performance. This focuses evaluation on practical application and readiness.
Digital Marking Implemented
CBSE utilized on-screen marking for exams conducted as scheduled. Answer sheets were scanned. Examiners graded papers digitally. This process reduces totalling errors. It also speeds up result generation.
Practical Marks Unchanged
Internal assessment and practical marks submitted by schools remain the same. These scores will be added to the calculated theory marks. This ensures continuity in evaluation for practical components.
Supplementary Exam Opportunity
Students who are unsatisfied with their results can appear for supplementary exams. Those who missed exams also have this option. Physical supplementary exams are scheduled for July 2026 . This provides a chance to improve scores or complete requirements.
This approach aims to prevent disadvantages for West Asian students. The board expects results on the official website, cbse.gov.in .
