The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon open applications for Class 12 re-evaluation. Students who received their scanned answer sheets can apply for a review of specific questions. This follows a record number of requests for scanned copies after the recent on-screen marking policy implementation.

Re-evaluation Process Details

Over 4.4 lakh students requested scanned copies of their Class 12 answer sheets. Many reported issues with blurred copies or incorrect student papers. The CBSE is now preparing to launch the re-evaluation portal. Students must apply again for re-evaluation once the portal opens.

The re-evaluation process allows students to dispute marks on specific questions. Fees are charged per questioned objected to. Students can only request re-evaluation for subjects where they obtained scanned copies.

Key Points for Re-evaluation Applicants:

  • Students can only request re-evaluation for subjects with submitted scanned copies.
  • There is no limit on the number of questions a student can select for re-evaluation.
  • Multiple questions across different subjects can be chosen, with applicable fees.
  • Re-evaluation focuses only on selected questions. Total marks and other answers are not reassessed.
  • Obtaining scanned copies does not automatically start the re-evaluation. A new request is required.
  • The same login credentials used for scanned copy requests must be used for re-evaluation.
  • CBSE can increase or decrease marks on disputed questions. The board's decision is final.

The exact start date for the re-evaluation process has not been announced. Updates will be posted on the official CBSE website: cbse.gov.in .

Important Considerations and Next Steps

The CBSE has not confirmed if re-evaluation will be offline or continue with on-screen marking. Traditionally, evaluators review specific questions from scanned copies. Due to student concerns, the board might adjust the re-evaluation format. A complete answer sheet review option might be offered, but this is unconfirmed.

Students are advised to consult their teachers before applying. Teachers can help assess the marks awarded and determine if re-evaluation is warranted for specific questions. This guidance can help students make informed decisions about the process.

Standardized Marks: CBSE sometimes standardizes marks across different exam sets. This may result in additional marks for some students. If a re-evaluated question was already compensated through standardization, no further marks will be added. For example, if 2 extra marks were awarded for a set, and re-evaluation confirms the issue, the score will not increase beyond the standardized total.

After Re-evaluation:

If marks change after re-evaluation, students will receive a revised Class 12 mark sheet. The old mark sheet must be returned to the regional office. The revised mark sheet will be issued within 10-15 days. The digital mark sheet on DigiLocker will be updated immediately after the result revision.

The re-checking process typically takes 7-10 days after the portal opens. This year, with higher demand and various issues, the timeline may extend. CBSE aims to complete re-evaluations quickly to avoid impacting college admissions.
