CBSE Class 12 Re-evaluation Fee Reduced for 2026

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has reduced fees for Class 12 answer sheet re-evaluation and obtained copies. The board announced revised charges on May 15, 2026, following student and teacher complaints about high initial costs.

The decision addresses concerns over the new On Screen Marking (OSM) system. This digital evaluation method, implemented this year, aims for accuracy and speed. However, it has created difficulties during the evaluation process for some teachers.

Fee Reduction Announced

CBSE Secretary for the Department of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar, confirmed the fee adjustments. Students can now access scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets at a lower price. The cost for re-evaluation per question also decreased.

New Fee Structure

The revised fee structure impacts several post-result services. These changes aim to make these processes accessible to more students.

The fee for obtaining a scanned copy of an answer book is now Rs. 100. Previously, this cost Rs. 700. The verification fee is reduced from Rs. 500 to Rs. 100.

Re-evaluation of answer sheets will now cost Rs. 25 per question. The original fee was Rs. 100 per question. These changes apply from May 15, 2026.

Further Benefits for Students

CBSE plans additional benefits for students. If a re-evaluation leads to an increase in marks, the board intends to refund the fee paid for that process. This policy aims to encourage students to seek corrections without financial risk.

The OSM system's implementation faced initial challenges. Reports indicated issues during teacher training and the marking process itself. The fee reduction is a direct response to the affordability concerns raised by the student community.
