The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold the Class 12 Chemistry exam on February 28, 2026 . Students preparing for this important board exam should focus on understanding the concepts and practicing regularly. The board exams for Class 12 will take place between February 17 and April 10, 2026.

Tips for Preparing for the Chemistry Exam

To do well in the Class 12 Chemistry exam, students should follow these preparation tips:

Understand the Syllabus: It's important to go through all the topics, units, and chapters listed in the CBSE Class 12 Chemistry syllabus. If you have any doubts, ask your teachers or friends to clear them up quickly.

Master the NCERT Book: The NCERT textbook is very important as it covers most of the exam content. Make sure to read it thoroughly and practice all the questions inside, including the exemplar questions.

Focus on Key Areas:

  • Organic Chemistry: Pay close attention to named reactions, their processes (mechanisms), and tests used to identify different substances.
  • Physical Chemistry: Practice solving numerical problems on topics like Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, and Solutions. Create a list of all important formulas for quick revision.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Focus on p-block and d- & f-block elements. Understand the trends, structures, and chemical reactions related to these elements.

Make Notes and Revise: Prepare short notes for reactions, formulas, and definitions. Review these notes daily to help you remember them better. Regular revision is key to success.

Practice with Past Papers: Solve as many CBSE Class 12 Chemistry sample papers and previous year's question papers as you can. This will help you understand the exam pattern and improve your speed and time management.

Exam Strategy for Better Scores

Knowing the exam pattern will help you understand which chapters carry more marks and which ones are more important. Here’s how to approach the exam:

  • Create a Study Plan: Make a schedule that includes regular revision of topics each week.
  • Manage Your Time: Dedicate enough time to each section of the exam based on its weightage.
  • Presentation Matters: Write your answers neatly. Use diagrams where needed and present your answers in a point-wise format.
  • Attempt All Questions: Try to answer every question, even if you are not completely sure. The CBSE exam does not have negative marking.
  • Rest Well: Get enough rest before the exam to stay focused and alert.

Important Chapters for High Marks

Students should focus more on the following chapters as they often carry higher marks:

  • Electrochemistry
  • Chemical Kinetics
  • Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids
  • Biomolecules
