The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced Class 10 results for the second board examination on July 18, 2026 . This new exam offers students another chance to improve their scores within the same academic year.
Second Board Exam Results Released
The overall pass percentage for Class 10 has risen to 96.78 percent . This figure combines results from both the main and the newly introduced second board examinations. A total of 6,63,777 students took the second board exam. Of these, 5,13,955 students sought to improve their marks, while 1,49,822 registered for compartment exams.
Students can access their scorecards on the official website, results.digilocker.gov.in. They will need their roll number, date of birth, and admit card details to log in.
What the Second Board Exam Entails
The second board examination is optional. It allows students to retake up to three subjects. Students can also clear compartment subjects in the same academic session. This system replaces the previous need to wait for the next academic year to attempt improvement exams. This dual-board examination system for Class 10 is implemented following recommendations from the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Student Performance Data
The second exam primarily assisted students who narrowly missed desired grades. It also helped those aiming for specific Class 11 streams. For students in the compartment category, 78,503 out of 1,49,822 candidates passed . This resulted in a compartment pass percentage of 52.40 percent, an increase from last year's 48.68 percent.
In the improvement category, 5,13,955 students participated. Of these, 3,08,095 students, or 59.95 percent, improved their scores .
