The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a change in the exam dates for one paper in both Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for the 2026 academic year. Students need to note this important update for their preparation. The specific exam, which was earlier planned for March 3, 2026 , has been rescheduled. For Class 10 students, this exam will now be held on March 11, 2026 . For Class 12 students, the same paper will now take place on April 10, 2026 . All other examinations for both classes will proceed as per the initial schedule. The main period for the CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams in 2026 is from February 17 to April 20, 2026 .

Revised Exam Dates for One Paper

CBSE has officially informed all affiliated schools about this change. The board had previously released a full date sheet for the 2026 board exams on its official website. However, a revision was necessary for a single paper affecting both Class 10 and Class 12. Students must mark these new dates in their study planners to avoid any confusion. The updated dates will be clearly shown on the official admit cards issued by CBSE before the exams.

ClassOld Exam DateNew Exam Date
Class 10 March 3, 2026 March 11, 2026
Class 12 March 3, 2026 April 10, 2026

Overall Schedule Remains Unchanged

This date change applies only to one specific paper. The broader schedule for the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations for 2026 remains as announced earlier. The exams will start on February 17, 2026 . They will continue for several weeks, concluding on April 20, 2026 . Students should continue to prepare for all their other subjects based on the original date sheet provided by CBSE.

Exam Mode, Timings, and Centers

The CBSE board exams for both Class 10 and Class 12 will be conducted using the traditional pen and paper method. This means students will write their answers by hand on physical answer sheets. No digital or online exams will be held for these board papers. The examinations will take place at various designated test centers across the country. Each exam will be conducted in a single session. The fixed timing for all papers is from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM . Students must reach their exam center well in advance of the start time.

Admit Card Details

The admit card is an important document for every student appearing for the CBSE board exams. CBSE plans to issue the admit cards approximately one week before the board examinations begin. This card will contain crucial personal details of the student, their roll number, the list of subjects they are taking, the full address of their exam center, and the final, confirmed exam dates. It is essential for students to check their admit card carefully for all details, especially the revised dates for the affected paper. Any mistake should be reported to the school immediately.
