Quantitative Aptitude Practice Questions for November 1

Question 1: Journey Speed

Brishti went on an 8-hour car journey. Before starting, the car’s odometer showed x kilometers. The number x is a whole number and a palindrome (reads the same forwards and backwards). By the end of the trip, the odometer reading was 26,862 km . If Brishti’s speed never went above 110 km/h , what is the highest possible average speed she could have driven during the trip?

Question 2: Divisibility Problem

Find the smallest possible value of h + m. This is true if (1134)h is divisible by 168 and (168)m is divisible by (1134)h.

Question 3: Compound and Simple Interest

A deposits INR 22,000 in a bank. The bank offers 4% interest compounded every six months for 6 years . B puts an unknown amount in the same plan for 5 years . After 5 years, B places this total amount in another bank. This second bank offers 10% simple interest for 1 year . If both A and B get the same total money after 6 years , find the amount B first invested.

Question 4: Cubic Equation Roots

The cubic equation x³ + (2r+1)x² + (4r-1)x - 2 = 0 has one root equal to 2 . If the other roots are real numbers, find the smallest whole number value of r that is not negative.

Question 5: Mixture Ratio

Some coffee is taken from a cup and cocoa powder is added. This makes Mixture P. The same amount of Mixture P is then removed, and cocoa powder is added again. This makes Mixture Q. In Mixture Q, the ratio of coffee to cocoa powder is 16:9 . Find the ratio of cocoa powder in Mixture P to cocoa powder in Mixture Q.
