IIM Kozhikode has announced important rules for students who will take the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2025 . These rules are for the exam day, November 30, 2025 . Following these instructions will help candidates have a smooth experience. Around 2.95 lakh students are expected to write the CAT 2025 exam this year. The test will be held in three different time slots across 170 cities in India. Professor Ram, who is in charge of the exam, shared these rules in an email to all registered students today.
What to Bring to the Exam Centre
Students must carry specific documents when they go to the test centre. These include their admit card and a valid photo identification card. Make sure you have these ready before exam day.
CAT 2025 Admit Card
- You must bring two printed copies of your CAT 2025 admit card.
- Paste a recent passport-size photograph on both copies. There will be a marked space for the photo.
- Your CAT admit card shows your specific exam session. Each student is given a unique time slot.
- You are not allowed to take the test more than once. You must also not appear in a different session than the one assigned to you. If you try to do this, you will be disqualified from the exam.
Photo Identity (ID) Card
Along with your CAT 2025 admit card, you need to carry one original government-issued photo identity card . Make sure the ID card has your clear photograph. Here is a list of accepted ID cards:

Important Rules for Exam Day Procedures
All candidates must follow these rules carefully on the day of the exam. This helps to ensure fairness and good order during the test.
Reporting Time at the Exam Centre
- You must reach your exam centre at the exact reporting time mentioned on your CAT 2025 admit card.
- The gates of the examination centre will close at a specific time. After this gate closing time, no candidate will be allowed to enter the test centre.
- To avoid any last-minute rush or delays, it is a good idea to visit your assigned test centre one day before the exam. This way, you can find the best route and check how long it takes to reach there.
Items Not Allowed Inside the Centre
Many items are strictly banned inside the CAT 2025 exam centre. It is important to leave these items at home or outside the centre. The exam authorities will not be responsible for keeping any personal belongings.
- Electronic devices: Mobile phones, electronic gadgets, digital or smart watches, and calculators are not allowed.
- Stationery: Do not bring any pens (other than the one provided), pencils, papers, or study materials.
- Personal items: Wallets, goggles, bags, and any valuable items are not permitted inside.
- Clothing and accessories: Avoid wearing jewellery, any metal items, shoes with thick soles, or garments with large buttons. These items are also not allowed.
Instructions for Rough Work and Breaks
- Writing Pad and Pen: You will receive a writing pad and a pen for doing rough work inside the exam lab. You must write your name and your CAT 2025 application number on this pad. Remember to submit this writing pad to the invigilator before you leave the test lab.
- Bio Breaks: It is best to avoid taking any bio breaks (washroom breaks) during the exam. If you take a break, the time you lose will not be compensated or added back to your total exam time. In case of an emergency break, you will be checked again by security staff upon re-entry to the exam lab.
