Students who took the Bihar STET 2025 exam and paid extra fees to challenge its answer key will get their money back. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has confirmed that these refunds will be processed in December 2025 . This is good news for many students who overpaid due to a technical glitch.
What is the Bihar STET Exam?
The Bihar State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) is an important exam for those who want to become teachers in schools in Bihar. Students take this exam to prove they have the right skills and knowledge to teach. Passing the STET is often a necessary step to apply for teaching jobs in the state. After the exam, the board releases a provisional (temporary) answer key. This key helps students check their answers and estimate their scores.
Why Students Object to Answer Keys
Sometimes, students might find mistakes in the provisional answer key. If they believe an answer given by the board is wrong, they have a chance to challenge it. This process is called 'raising an objection'. Students submit proof and explain why they think the board's answer is incorrect. This step is important because it ensures fair marking and correct results for everyone.
Details of the Fee Refund
The BSEB had set a fee for raising these objections. Each objection cost INR 50 per question. However, the board later announced a new rule through a notice, PR 302/2025. This rule stated that no matter how many questions a student objected to, the maximum fee they should pay would be INR 250 . This cap was meant to help students who had many objections, making the process more affordable.
The Technical Problem
This new maximum fee rule was supposed to start from November 27, 2025 . But when students tried to submit their objections online, a technical issue came up. The computer system did not properly apply the INR 250 upper limit. So, even after the new rule was in place, students were still charged INR 50 for every single question they challenged, without any limit. This led to many students paying more than INR 250 .
Who is Eligible for the Refund?
The refund is for students who submitted their objections between November 14 and November 28, 2025 . If you were charged more than INR 250 during this period for objecting to more than five questions, you will get your extra money back. The BSEB has clearly stated that any amount collected above INR 250 will be returned.
When and How Refunds Will Happen
The BSEB has assured students that the refund process will be completed in December 2025 . Students do not need to take any special action or apply for the refund. The board will identify all eligible candidates who overpaid and will automatically send back the extra amount. Keep an eye on the official BSEB website for any further updates regarding the refund status.
Important Dates to Remember
The period for submitting objections was from November 14 to November 28, 2025 . The new fee rule, setting a maximum of INR 250 , was supposed to begin on November 27, 2025 . All eligible refunds will be issued by the BSEB in December 2025 .
