Bihar Schools May Offer Optional Yoga Classes

Bihar schools may soon offer optional yoga classes. Health Minister Nishant Kumar proposed the change to promote student well-being. The classes would be voluntary, with no attendance requirement.

Proposal Details

Minister Nishant Kumar urged Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary to add yoga to the school curriculum. He announced the proposal during International Yoga Day events. Students can choose to participate without pressure.

The proposal focuses on making yoga an elective activity. This aims to encourage healthy lifestyles among children. It will not add to academic burdens.

Government Focus on Wellness

This initiative aligns with broader state efforts in India. Many governments are adding wellness activities to school programs. Yoga proponents cite benefits like improved concentration and emotional balance.

The Bihar government has not set an implementation date. The proposal is under consideration.
