Students at Uttarakhand Ayurved University in Dehradun protested on Wednesday over the non-declaration of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) examination results for the past four years. Some students escalated their protest by climbing a water tank at the Harrawala campus, while others gathered below. They also cited the lack of scheduled future examinations as a grievance.
Protesters Demand Action on Results and Exams
The demonstration occurred at the Harrawala campus. Students chanted slogans demanding the immediate release of their pending examination results. The delay has reportedly impacted the university's academic schedule.
To exert pressure on university administration, approximately half a dozen students ascended the water tank. Simultaneously, other students maintained a peaceful sit-in protest on the ground in solidarity.
Authorities Respond to Campus Incident
The situation became tense when a physical altercation occurred between some protesting students and police officers. Police were present to manage law and order on campus. Officers stated they were working to persuade the students on the water tank to descend safely.
University officials, including the Vice Chancellor, engaged in discussions with the protesting students. Police confirmed that both the university administration and university officials are pursuing resolution through dialogue.
Students remain firm in their demands for prompt action regarding their results and upcoming examinations. The protest signifies student frustration with the prolonged delays.
