The Association of Australian Education Representatives in India (AAERI) and India's National e Governance Division (NeGD) launched a new platform called AAERI Verify . The system uses India's DigiLocker to share academic and financial documents digitally. The announcement was made on August 7, 2026 , at the AAERI Annual Convocation in New Delhi.
AAERI Verify Simplifies Applications
AAERI Verify offers a secure, paperless method for document verification. It allows students to share authentic digital records directly from authorized institutions. This system reduces reliance on physical paperwork and manual checks by Australian universities. The process has two main stages.
Stage 1: Student Verification
This initial stage occurs before a student submits their university application. It verifies academic identity documents.
Stage 2: Sponsor Verification
This stage begins after a student receives an admission offer. It focuses on confirming financial authenticity.
With student consent, Australian universities can access digitally signed records. This direct source verification helps prevent fraud. It also protects student privacy. The platform aims to speed up the entire university application process.
India's Digital Infrastructure in Action
Shri JL Gupta, Director of NeGD, stated that the partnership showcases India's digital public infrastructure. He noted how this collaboration addresses global challenges in education admissions. The link between DigiLocker and AAERI Verify creates a trusted, paperless system. This simplifies the journey for students pursuing education abroad.
NeGD, established in 2009, operates under India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It supports policy work and technology appraisals. NeGD also manages government technology platforms connecting various public services. DigiLocker is a key initiative under NeGD's Digital India program.
DigiLocker provides citizens with a digital wallet for storing and sharing verified documents. It currently serves over 72 crore registered users. The platform supports secure issuance, storage, and real-time verification of digitally signed records. This new partnership extends India's digital model globally, specifically into the international education sector.
