Odisha faces a threat of heavy to very heavy rainfall in isolated areas. The IMD forecasts this for Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts. A yellow warning is in effect for Jharsuguda, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Subarnapur, and Balangir. Other districts may experience light to moderate rain or thunderstorms.

West Bengal

The IMD forecasts heavy rainfall in isolated pockets of Bihar and Jharkhand on August 24. Both states have experienced intense monsoon activity this month.

Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh

These states are also included in the IMD's heavy rain forecast for August 24. Previously, some districts in these states declared school holidays during heavy rain spells.

Northeast India

Heavy rainfall is forecast for several northeastern states. This includes Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Southern India

Parts of southern India are expected to receive heavy rain. This includes Kerala, coastal Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal. Kerala has Onam holidays scheduled from August 25 to August 28. Telangana anticipates heavy rain. Andhra Pradesh expects thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.

Maharashtra and Gujarat

Monsoon activity is being monitored in parts of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The current forecast does not indicate statewide school closures.

Students and parents should consult local district administration advisories and school communications before traveling on August 24.
