The Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, has announced the full schedule for the first round of Assam NEET PG Counselling 2025 . Students who have cleared the NEET PG 2025 exam can register online starting from November 6, 2025 . The last date to register is November 9, 2025 . This counselling process helps eligible candidates get admission into Master of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses in medical colleges across Assam.
NEET PG stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate. It is a national-level exam for doctors who want to study further and specialize in medical fields. After passing this exam, candidates need to go through a counselling process to get a seat in a college. The Assam counselling is for 50% of the seats reserved for students from Assam (State Quota) in various medical colleges within the state.
Only candidates who appeared in NEET PG 2025 and met the required cut-off marks can take part in this online counselling. The process is fully online, meaning students will apply and select colleges through the internet. However, after seats are allotted, candidates must physically visit their assigned college for document verification and to pay admission fees.

Steps for Assam NEET PG Counselling
Registration: The first step is to register online. During this time, candidates need to provide their personal details, NEET PG scores, and other necessary information. It is important to complete this within the given deadline.
Choice Filling: After registration, candidates can choose their preferred medical colleges and specializations (like MD or MS in a specific subject). They should rank their choices carefully, from most preferred to least preferred.
Choice Locking: Once choices are filled, candidates must lock them. This means no further changes can be made. If choices are not locked, the last saved choices will be automatically locked after the deadline.
Seat Allotment Processing: The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam will then process these choices based on NEET PG ranks, choices filled by candidates, and the availability of seats.
Result Announcement: The result of the seat allotment will be announced online on November 15, 2025 . Candidates will be able to check which college and course they have been allotted.
Reporting to Institute: Candidates who get a seat must report to their allotted medical college between November 19, 2025, and November 20, 2025 . This step involves verifying all original documents and paying the admission fees to confirm their seat. Failure to report on time can lead to losing the allotted seat.
Candidates must remember that only those who appeared in NEET-PG-2025 and successfully met the cut-off score set by the National Board of Examinations (NBE), New Delhi, are eligible to take part in this counselling. This ensures that only qualified individuals apply for these postgraduate medical seats.
Students are advised to regularly check the official website of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam, for any further updates or notices related to the counselling process.
