Assam students failing the HSLC Class 10 exam must re-enroll in Class 10 to continue their education. The Assam State School Education Board issued a new directive requiring these students to attend regular classes. This re-admission is mandatory for them to be eligible for future examinations.

Re-admission Rules Announced

The board outlined specific rules for students who did not pass the HSLC examination. They must seek re-admission in Class 10. The deadline for completing this re-admission process is August 14, 2026 .

School Admission Options

Students can re-enroll in the same school where they took their HSLC exam. If their previous school cannot accommodate them, they may enroll in another school within the same examination center. Their registration number will remain unchanged.

Subject Changes and Assessments

Students have the option to change an elective subject. This change must be made before the half-yearly examination. No subject changes will be permitted after this assessment period. Schools are responsible for assessing students' practical work from their period of study. These practical marks or internal assessment scores must be submitted to the Assam State School Education Board.

Attendance and Progress Monitoring

Participation in the Class 10 half-yearly examination is compulsory. Students who fail to attend will not be allowed to take the next exam. School heads will oversee the attendance of re-admitted students. They will also monitor student progress. Remedial classes will be provided based on individual student needs.
