The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has released the dates for counselling for its Super Speciality courses. This counselling is for the January 2026 session. Doctors who passed the INI SS entrance exam can now apply for admission to these advanced medical programs.

The first round of online choice filling starts on December 20, 2025 , and ends on December 26, 2025 . Candidates need to choose their preferred colleges and courses during this time. The results for seat allotment will be announced on December 29, 2025 . This process is important for securing a seat in institutes across India.

Who Can Apply?

Only candidates who scored at least 50 percent in the Institute of National Importance Super Specialty (INI SS) entrance exam are allowed to take part in this counselling. If a candidate does not meet all the rules, their seat can be cancelled later. So, it is important to check all eligibility criteria carefully before choosing colleges.

AIIMS INI SS January 2026 Counselling Schedule

The counselling process will happen in two main rounds. Here is a clear schedule of events for both rounds:

Event Date
1st Round Counselling
Online Choice Filling (Choosing Colleges) December 20 to 26, 2025 (until 5 PM)
Seat Allotment Result Announced December 29, 2025
Accepting the Allotted Seat December 30, 2025 , to January 6, 2026

2nd Round Counselling
Allotment Result Announced January 20, 2026

How to Fill Choices Online

Candidates must log in to the official online portal to choose their colleges. This is called 'exercising web options'. When you log in, you will see a list of available Super Speciality courses and colleges. You can select the ones you prefer.

It is advised to choose as many colleges and courses as you are interested in. This helps increase your chances of getting a seat. After selecting your choices, you must 'lock' them by the deadline. Choices that are not locked will not be considered for seat allotment.

What Happens After Seat Allotment?

Accepting the Seat

If you are allotted a seat in Round 1, you must accept it online. This step is necessary to confirm your interest in the seat offered to you. You will have time from December 30, 2025 , to January 6, 2026 , to do this.

Reporting to the College

After accepting your seat online, you need to physically go to the college or institute where you got the seat. You must report to the college between December 30, 2025 , and January 6, 2026 . At the college, you will need to complete admission formalities. This usually includes showing your original documents and paying a security deposit. The security deposit is a sum of money paid to confirm your admission, which is often returned later or adjusted with fees.

Second Round of Counselling

If seats remain empty after the first round, AIIMS will conduct a second round of counselling. The results for the second round will be announced on January 20, 2026 . Candidates who get a seat in this round must accept it and report to their allotted college between January 21 and January 28, 2026 . This process ensures that most available seats are filled.

Candidates must regularly check the AIIMS official website for any updates or changes to the schedule. Following the timeline and rules is key to securing a Super Speciality seat.
