The Union Agriculture Ministry launched a new Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). This system aims to speed up and increase transparency in scholarship and fellowship payments for agriculture students. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated the initiative at ICAR-IARI, Pusa. Over 6,000 agriculture students have already received ₹21.35 crore in scholarships and fellowships through this DBT system. The funds go directly into eligible students' bank accounts.
Scholarship Details
The NSP portal opened for the 2026-27 academic year on June 1, 2026. The Department of Agriculture Research and Education lists several agriculture-related scholarship schemes. These include the ICAR National Talent Scholarship (UG), ICAR Post Graduate Scholarship, ICAR NTS-PG, and ICAR Junior/Senior Research Fellowships.

How to Apply
Students must apply through the National Scholarship Portal. First, complete a One-Time Registration (OTR). Then, select the correct scholarship scheme. Enter Aadhaar, mobile, and academic details. Upload required documents. Submit the application for verification. The deadline for most Post-Matric and Higher Education scholarships is October 31, 2026 . Institute-level verification is due by November 15, 2026 . District/state-level verification must be completed by November 30, 2026 .
