For the first time in the history of the Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-Patna), 26 pre-final year undergraduate students have bagged lucrative summer internship offers at world computer technology giant Google. Not only is this a testimony to the best of the best of talent groomed at IIT-Patna, but also a source of pride for IIT-Patna on the national and international academic map.
Record Internship Opportunities for IIT-Patna Students
Out of the 26 shortlisted students, a total of 11 are females at most, indicating growing gender diversity and higher numbers of women in technology. The interns will be part of Google's 12-week summer internship program as Software Engineering Interns, which will be held between May and July.
Department-Wise Distribution of Shortlisted Students
The short-listed students are representative of the broad range of streams of studies in IIT-Patna, which reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the institute. Department-wise distribution is as follows:
- Computer Science and Engineering (CSE): 16
- Mathematics and Computing (MnC): 5
- Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS): 4
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE): 1

A Disciplined Selection Process
The recruitment process was very competitive, says Kripa Shankar Singh, Training and Placement Officer, IIT-Patna. The selection process involved a very challenging online test to assess technical skills, problem-solving ability, and coding ability. The best performers cleared the rounds to get a place in Google's elite internship program.
