180 Odisha Students Protest Poor School Hostel Conditions

Over 180 students walked 12 kilometers from Sanatemera High School in Nabrangpur, Odisha, to their homes. This incident raises questions about facilities in government schools. A NITI Aayog report highlighted a significant decline in government schools. Between 2014-15 and 2024-25 , approximately 94,000 government schools closed. Enrolment in government schools dropped to 49.24% . Many schools with low attendance are being merged. This aims to improve educational resources and teacher access.
