SET 2020 Preparation Tips

Symbiosis is known to be one of the established foundations in India. Getting admission into the institute is aspired by various undergraduates, so they have to take the SET for fulfilling their aspirations. Symbiosis offers a lot of courses like Management, Law, Design, IT and PC application and Medical innovation programs and so on. The entrance examination would be conducted on a national level and around 17 test venues will accommodate the candidates on the date of the exam.

Structure of Symbiosis Entrance Test

The exam would be purely objective based with a lot of multiple choice questions. There would be a  negative marking system for each wrong answer given so the undergraduates would be marking answer from the 4 choices given. There are absolutely 150 questions and the students should complete the test within two and half hours. The five areas of the questioning are

  • English
  • Quantitative
  • General Awareness
  • Analytical Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning

Syllabus of Symbiosis Entrance Test

There is no appropriate syllabus for the exam. The undergraduates should rehearse the questions from various practice and mock tests.


Out of 150 questions English section carries 25 questions and the undergraduates can rehearse certain topics like:

  • Synonyms
  • Antonyms
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Vocabulary
  • Grammar Usage
  • Quantitative Aptitude  

It also carries 25 questions and the areas requiring preparation are:

  • Geometry
  • Algebra Statistics
  • General Awareness

This section has 60 questions and undergraduates should know the present issues and occasions in

  • Business
  • Health
  • Legal Area
  • Analytical and Logical Reasoning

This section has about 40 questions and the areas covering are

  • Coding and Decoding
  • Data Interpretation
  • True or False Statements

Study Plan for Symbiosis Entrance Test

Practice is the only way scoring high. They can practice with the reading material of the same or can get the examination material in net. They need to figure out how to change the time and solve questions within the required time. So the most ideal method for getting ready for the exam is to practice mock tests and perfect the weak areas.

SET 2020 Syllabus

SET shall be conducted in an offline mode where the paper would be consisting of 150 questions from five subjects including English Comprehension, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Aptitude, Logical Reasoning. The coverage under the respective areas are as follows:

  • Reading Comprehension: The English section would contain 30 questions from Comprehension passages. The unseen passages would be containing questions closely related to the passage. The English section would test the language skill of the candidates. 
  • General Knowledge: The 30 questions of General Knowledge would cover topics such as History, General Science, Economics, Civics and Current Affairs of the past one year. 
  • Analytical Reasoning: The section would consist of 30 questions inclusive of questions on Permutation and Combination, Mixtures, Blood Relation, Ratio and Proportion, Time and Work, Mensuration, Profit, loss and discount. 
  • Legal Aptitude: This section would be testing the interest of the candidates towards law, research aptitude and problem-solving aptitude of the candidates. There would be questions on Legal Aptitude as well. 
  • Logical Reasoning: This section would have 30 questions based on topics such as Number Test, Coding and Decoding, Odd one out, Verbal Reasoning and Analogy.

SET 2020 Exam Pattern

Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) would be held in the initial week of May 2019 by the Symbiosis International University. This written test would be conducted at various Symbiosis Institutes and each institute would have its own selection process.Candidates applying for Symbiosis Entrance Test would be required to follow the exam pattern before appearing for the final test. All the information regarding the exam pattern shall be provided on the official website.The entrance test shall consist of 5 question papers such as Design, Law, General, Engineering and Health Science. A candidate can take more than one paper. The candidate would be required to attempt one in the morning and one in the evening.
