CUSAT CAT  is the Common Admission Test of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) for admissions to its the undergraduate and postgraduate courses.It is a national level entrance test conducted across various centers all over India.This test is common for admission to the undergraduate engineering program across its three campuses - Kalamassery, Kuttanadu, and Lakeside.

The computer based CAT Examination would be conducted by Cochin University of Science and Technology from April 28-29, 2018. The CUSAT CAT Application Form is available in an online mode from February 7 to 28, 2018. Candidates should be registered by filling the CUSAT CAT Application Form and pay CUSAT CAT Application Fee. Candidates should be familar with the CUSAT CAT Eligibility criteria before registering for the examination.

After the conclusion of CUSAT CAT examination, CUSAT CAT Answer Key would be released for the reference of the candidate. The CUSAT CAT Result would be announced in the month of May 2018. On the basis of the scores of the candidates in CUSAT CAT Examination, the merit list would be prepared and candidates would be invited for CAT Counseling.

Prior to applying for CUSAT CAT, candidates should ensure that they meet the CUSAT CAT Eligibility criteria. Among the eligibility criteria some of the key points to be noted are as follows:

  • Pass in 12th Grade in 10+2 from a recognized system or Board with a minimum of 50% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Maths
  • For B.Tech, candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in Maths in Grade 10.
  • For candidates applying for Marine Engineering, the upper age limit is likely to be 25 as on September 1, 2018.

The online application form of CUSAT CAT would be avaiable in the month of February 2018. Candidates would have to register for the CUSAT CAT Examination, and fill the Application Form. The candidates would have to fill personal details, academic qualifications and pay the requisite fees.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Eligibility

Eligibility for CUSAT CAT 2017 is as follows:

The candidate must carefully check the eligibility criteria before applying for CUSAT CAT 2017.

General Eligibility Conditions:

  • The candidate must have passed class 12th from the state board or any recognized board or university.
  • The candidate must have scored at least 50% in aggregate in class 12th with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with at least 50% in mathematics individually as well.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Application Procedure

CUSAT 2017 Online Application can be completed following the below steps:
1) Creating a login ID – Login to the web site Click on the link “New Candidate Registration” and enter correctly your name, date of birth & age exactly as given in the qualifying certificate. Use a VALID E-mail ID and an active mobile phone number of the candidate or parent. Choose a User Name of your choice with at least 6 characters using alphabets and/or numbers only. Do write down the approved user name. Choose the correct options out
of the 3 options given in the login creation page. Read the following guide lines for choosing the correct option:
- The second option “Lateral Entry “is only for engineering diploma holders who are applying to the third semester of B.Tech.
- The Third option “International Candidates/PIO/Children of Indian Gulf Workers” is for those who are applying for seats reserved for foreign citizens/Children of        Indian Gulf Workers.
- The first option “Indian & NRI” is for all Indian Citizens including NRI candidates except for those mentioned in the second and third option.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Admit Card

The admit card of CUSAT CAT 2017 was released by the Cochin University of Science and Technology on 18th April 2017.The admit card of CUSAT should have been downloaded by the candidates much before the date of the exam.The admit card is a very important document and a hard copy should be carried to the exam center.A soft copy of the admit card should also be saved by the candidate.The candidate will not be allowed to enter the exam center without a copy of the admit card.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Preparation Tips

Time Management: Maintaining a proper schedule for every task that you do can lead you to success. Prepare along with all daily tasks such as exercise, play and every other task by managing the time.

Diet & Food: Maintain a completely healthy diet including fresh fruits and vegetables. Try to ignore oily stuff and have a properly balanced diet.

Positivity: Always try to be positive towards every work that you do and be focused towards all your activities along with studies. Being optimistic works very well many times in such situations.

Mock Tests: Prepare the best way by appearing as many mock tests you can, and analyze the results regularly. Try solving the portion which you find difficult in the mock tests and create a strong base.

The smart way to Prepare: Make separate sheets for formulas and theorem that can help you a lot while solving numerical in Physics and Mathematics.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Exam Pattern

The CUSAT CAT 2017 Exam Pattern can be explained as: 

There will be two papers divided into three hours.

  • Paper 1 will be of Mathematics with 125 questions constituting 375 marks out of the 750 mark paper
  • Paper 2 will be of Physics and Chemistry with 75 questions from Physics and only 50 from Chemistry.This also makes up a total of 375 marks.
  • There is negative marking as well. 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer and 3 marks are awarded for each correct answer.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Result

The result for CUSAT CAT 2017 was declared on 18th May 2018.Admissions to the undergraduate engineering programs will only be done on the basis of the merit list prepared based on the performance of the candidate in the entrance exam.

The candidates will then be able to apply for the mock counseling round.In 2017, the mock counseling round started from the 18th of May itself.


The CUSAT CAT 2017 Cut off will be the minimum marks as determined by the University, for students to be considered for admissions.

Most of the time, the problem will be solved by clearing the cache of the browser. For clearing the cache, press Ctrl+Shift+Delete keys from the browser and follow instructions therein.

  • How many Application forms should I submit if I wish to appear for B Tech Regular and B Tech Lateral Entry programs?

You need to submit only one application with all the required options.

  • I am the ward of an Indian citizen working in a Gulf country. Which link should I use?

You can select the link for Indian and NRI candidates for normal seats and NRI seats.You are also eligible for seats reserved for children of Indian citizen working in Gulf countries. For that, you may submit a separate online application by selecting the link for International candidates and by paying separate fees.
