Thangavelu Engineering College was established in the academic year of 1995 by Ponniamman educational Trust located in old Mahabalipuram and was moved, after a few years, to Karapakkam (Chennai). It is approved by the All India Council for technical Education (AICTE) and has been recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Thangavelu Engineering College accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is an ISO-9001:2008 certified institution and some of the programs such as Engineering, Technology, MBA and MCA are affiliated to the Anna University.
