St Edmund's College (SEC) is a premier institution of Shillong which commenced its establishment in the academic year of 1916. It is affiliated to the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU). It offers undergraduate programs in Arts, Science, Commerce, Social Work and Computer Applications.
The Department of Biotechnology Government of India has granted the College ‘Star Status' for Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Chemistry, Physics, and Zoology, making it the first and only college in Eastern India to receive this honour. The Department of Biotechnology of the Government of India has financed the College's Biotech Hub and Bioinformatics Center, both of which are active research centers.
