The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar accepts online mode of application. NIT Srinagar is one of the 31 NITs currently functioning in India. It is an engineering and research institution. The application form for admission to the courses offered by the institute can be filled online by visiting the official website of the institute.

NIT Srinagar offers programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and the Doctorate level. The institute offers B. Tech at the undergraduate level, M. Tech and M. Sc at the postgraduate level, and PhD and M. Phil at the Doctorate level. The admission purely depends on different national level entrance examinations conducted.  

Minimum Educational Qualification

Candidates seeking admission to any of the programs offered by the institute must ensure that they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria defined by the institute.

  • Candidates seeking admission to B. Tech must have passed senior secondary school with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English as main subjects securing at least 75% (65% marks in case of reserved categories) marks in aggregate.
  • Candidates in the top 20 percentile in the senior secondary school examinations are also eligible to apply for admission.
  • For admission to M. Tech, the candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering & technology securing at least 60% (55% for reserved categories) marks in aggregate.
  • For admission to M. Sc, the candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
  • Candidates seeking admission to M. Phil and PhD are required to hold a master's degree in the relevant field securing at least 60% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.

Admission to the B. Tech Program at NIT Srinagar

NIT Srinagar offers B. Tech program at the undergraduate level and the program is offered under eight specializations.

  • For admission to B. Tech, the candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in JEE Main examination conducted at the national level.
  • Shortlisted candidates, then, are required to sit through the counseling process conducted at the institute.
  • The candidates are finally shortlisted based on the marks obtained by them in JEE Main examination along with the choices given by them.

Admission to M. Tech and M. Sc program at NIT Srinagar

M. Tech and M. Sc programs are offered by the institute at the postgraduate level. M. Sc and M. Tech are offered under one and three specializations respectively.

  • For admission to M. Tech, the candidates are shortlisted through Centralized Counseling for M. Tech (CCMT) as per directed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
  • The admission is purely based on the marks obtained by the candidates in GATE examination.
  • For admission to M. Sc, the candidates must hold a valid score in IIT JAM examination for which they can apply online.

Admission to the PhD and M. Phil program at NIT Srinagar

The programs are offered by NIT Srinagar under different fields of research. The PhD program is offered under 10 specializations.

  • For admission to the PhD program, the candidates must sit through the written examination test followed by personal interview round conducted by the institute.
  • The shortlisted candidates are required to give a presentation on the subject they wish to pursue their degree in.
  •  Candidates with a valid score in UGC/CSIR/GATE examinations are given preference.

The National Institute of Technology, Srinagar accepts offline mode of application. The candidates must visit the official website of the institute in order to download the application form.

The candidates must send the duly filled application form to the concerned department of the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar.

The payment of application fee must be processed by bank transfer through NEFT.
