JD Institute of Fashion Technology was founded in 1988. It is a constituent of JD Educational Trust, affiliated with the Bengaluru Central University. It is a member of various design bodies including Cumulus, Indo Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indo French chamber of commerce and Industry and collaborates with international design institutes such as London College of Fashion, Chelsea College of Arts, London and Georgian College, Canada. It has received The Global League Institute By Great Place To Study, London. It has also been felicitated with the Global Excellence in Design Education award at The Times Education Excellence 2019.
