Delhi School of Economics, commonly known as DSE, was established in the academic year of 1949 to provide higher learning, mainly in the field of Economics. It is considered one of the finest colleges of social sciences in India. The college is affiliated to University of Delhi and is situated in North Campus of the University in Maurice Nagar. The college has been approved by University Grants Commission (UGC).

The organization of the college consists of Department of Economics, Department of Sociology, Department of Geography and Department of Commerce. The departments of Economics, Sociology, and Geography are taken under by the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Department of Commerce comes under the Faculty of Commerce and Business. Department of Economics was developed later, in order to strengthen the research infrastructure.

The infrastructure of the college is average with all the basic amenities provided in it.

The campus is surrounded by lush greenery; the classrooms are large enough to accommodate a large number of students and are fully air-conditioned. The classrooms are equipped with the latest technologies and provide smart learning as well to keep students updated.

The cafeteria of the college offers delicious and hygienic food at very economical rates.

The college also offers Hostel facilities for the students coming from out of the city, but the seats are limited. All the basic facilities are provided in the hostel.

One of the most important features of this college is its Library known as Ratan Tata Library. Mostly referred to as RTL, it is one of the best libraries in the field on Economics and allied fields. The library is well equipped with all the recent informative books and resources. The stock of the library comprises of 2.5 lakh volume of books and bound periodicals.
The faculty members of the college are quite good. Most of the members are experienced in their respective subjects. They are well behaved and highly qualified. Their main aim is to impart knowledge and wisdom to their students. They try to help students to their maximum extent. Enough industry exposure is provided through frequent guest lectures and industrial visits.
